A School of Contemplative Wisdom

The contemporary world is in crisis, and what it needs most is not more information, but the gift and treasury of traditional Wisdom. Wisdom's work is to awaken consciousness and make the human heart alive and functioning. It does so mysteriously through a living transmission of its energies, profound teaching and spiritual practice. In every generation men and women have met in schools of Wisdom to learn, gain strength, change their way of living, and be raised to a higher level of consciousness and being. Such schools, however, do not exist simply for personal enlightenment, but to serve the world and serve creation.

The origins of Christian wisdom began with the visionary seeing of Jesus. As a Master of Wisdom he gathered students and taught them directly, bringing a fresh integration of truth to ordinary life. Integral learning, therefore, is at the core of the curriculum of Wisdom.

Modern Christianity is in danger of losing sight of this original wisdom, replacing it with programs and dogmas. As a corrective, Wisdom schools are forming to provide a new kind of education where the core ideas of Wisdom are complemented by foundational practices in meditation, sacred chanting, centering prayer, and the mindful practice of the divine Presence. Wisdom is not unique to Christianity. It is a worldwide phenomenon. Christian Wisdom must also be balanced with teaching and guidance from its universal counterparts.
